Day 2

Glad to see you are back for the next door ;)

Today we have another part of the mystery instructions.

Star Toss Mystery | mellmeyer.de

If you decided on doing one of the “only blocks” schedules, then your task is to sew another 12″ block – same as yesterday. For those of you attempting the “quilt top” schedules, it means cutting day for background squares. Actually I planned two days to cut all the background squares. So you should finish with about ½ of them today ;)

I also want to leave you with a bit of extra information:
I planned the design for a “scrappy” background. Not as in many different colors but as in solids/prints of a very close kind within your chosen color. You can see my various stacks of low-volume prints in the picture as an example.

And thus the background of Star Toss is made up of individually cut background squares even though a few of these will be sewn together into bigger sections later on. If you plan to work with one background fabric and the seams would bother you, then I suggest you wait for the reveal of the top construction. Then you could figure out a different cutting plan with fewer seams. But you would have to do that yourself ;) I am totally fine with being able to see the structure of the quilt… But as always: You do you!

> Star Toss – Part 3

And here is your task for today depending on your chosen version:

24 blocks:
sew (1) more of the 12″ blocks
(your total should now be 2)

24 quilt top:
cut ½ of the background

36 blocks:
sew (1) more of the 12″ blocks
(your total should now be 2)

36 quilt top:
cut ½ of the background

I also promised that you could collect “letters” for a special coupon code for the full pattern download at the end. It might also work for the other patterns in my shop ;)

So for your letter collection, write down:
No. 12 = 3

Here is the link to the special file again in case you want a template:

I loved reading about your goals and enjoyed the first star that popped up on Instagram! Please remember to tag me @mellmeyer in your posts so I can see your creations.

Merry Christmas,
