Progress & Finishes
Emotions can be deceiving, it seems.
It felt, like I made no progress at all over the last six months – or more. But in fact I did finish a quilt, made good progress on two others, and organized projects & stash. Oh, and I worked on cute little gifts for my colleagues.
So maybe it is time to start thinking positive about progress again and rejoin the IG community ;)

Progress: Tilted Tiles
started Q1/2023
Was the basting finished already? I can’t remember, but I sure did start the quilting and I’d estimate I managed about 60-75%.
The stitching is an irregular grid. And I am using four thread colors in random order.

Progress: “More Diagonals”
started Q3/2023
To be honest, this one might have already been (partially) quilted. For the quilting, I picked a new to me design: a diamond grid. I LOVE it! And it was easier than anticipated.
But I did prep the binding and attached the first side. This really just needs one work day and a photo shoot. *insert smiling eyeroll*

Progress: Tambo Star
started Q3/2024
The strip blocks have mostly been sewn together and I have started to connect units into “blocks”.
This is slow going but the progress is noticeable. I might be hoping to finish this before my Sep vacation to take pictures there…. Crazy idea? Time management and luggage wise? Not sure yet ;)

In-Between: Good-Luck Pigs
started Q1/2025
I volunteered to organize “this years” birthday tables. We were a bit late with planning so my run as CEO Special Gifts is March-February.
So of course a few birthdays already rolled by and those gifts were of course delivered. This is the remaining drove/team.
The pig is a good luck symbol over here. And my idea was to combine some sewing and some “esoteric” things into a theme. So everyone receives a wish jar, scratch ticket and the good luck pick. Complemented by a happy birthday banner, some homemade confetti and sweets. All in everyone’s favorite color. You might be able to tell that blue appears to be a favorite ;)

Finish: “Add Jewels”
from Q1/2019
And besides all the progress I finished my original Meadowland version and did the photo shooting at my new work space atrium. More >

Moved: Halloween Coin Quilt
from Q1/2019
Found a new home for this project. I might have kept a few blocks just in case I want to sew a small “memento” like a pillowcase. But I am not decided yet, so no new WIP there.
The quilt finish is by @likumbasi. She sewed the blocks together and quilted on her longarm. She was free to use the blocks however she liked but her goal is to give it to a Christmas market for a charity raffle. Awesome idea!
I have not started any new projects, so my WIP list went down by two, and I made better progress than I remembered. Whoohoo!
So let’s update that WIP list…

A more than long overdue project. The recipient either forgot about it or calls me names by now.
Fabric Tracking

After a boring January of “nothing to report”, February included the finish mentioned above “Add Jewels” and some fabric shopping with my gift card.
At the end of March – leaning over into April – I destashed some FQ/F8 bundles to fit everything into my newly arranged sewing studio/home office. To the impressive amount of 21 yards destashed! I also found a new home for one of my WIPs, Halloween Coin Quilt. Voila, the biggest decrease in the history of my fabric reporting ;)
In May, somehow two online fabric shopping “events” happened, although that might not have been the wisest choice with the recent reduction in space… but I am happy with the fabrics ;)

Goals
This would bring us to looking back on the 2025 goals: I’d say I crushed the WIP and stash reduction. On the other hand, I only started on the pattern goals by learning a new software, which I like, but I have not completed any of the goals yet.
And the personal goals are clouded in mist. At first there was a big motivational problem. But recently I switched to a “no-sweets” diet. I feel better and I have lost a tiny amount of weight. A lot more to go, but finally the right direction. The gym relationship is still the on and off kind…
With the “Christmas in July” reminder hovering, I started on an idea for the Advent calendar mystery quilt. But a spontaneous application for a new apartment has currently put everything on hold. I do very much hope the apartment turns out to be as desired and that I do get confirmation, but if that happens, I am not sure the mystery quilt organization will be doable simultaneously to a move. Maybe with another design? Anyway… first I do hope you nonethess keep your fingers crossed for me. xo

Once again I am surprised by the clarity one can find when reviewing objectively. There were so many more positive things than I remembered by heart.
Best wishes,
