“More Diagonals” — Finished!

No. 6 of my Finish Along List for Q3(Q4) is finished!

Let’s please assume it is still December 2025. Because this quilt was finished in October or November 2025 – no idea when exactly … after my move in September and before I cut my finger. So I am documenting it for 2025 ;)

It took me quite a while to get to photographing it. And even those pictures are now from two different days and settings. Some from a few days ago, from a short walk with my Mom to show her a few things I found out about my new neighborhood. Some are indoor pictures from today.

It was interesting how vibrant the little purple berries were. So we tried to get them in a picture too ;)

Doesn’t it look like the tiger wants to eat the quilt?

The tiger statue stands between the apartment houses, and the plaque only says: Tiger, Kurt Bauer, 1968. But it is impressive what one can google nowadays. I found a German site with background about the artist and a few pictures in case you want to see the tiger in its full glory. I just thought it a fun idea for my photoshoot ;)

The backing is from a duvet: A black fabric with white splatter on it. And the binding was attached with my newly found favorite zig-zag method. The quilting is a diamond grid.

Somehow, I “mixed up” my blocks and intended layout – and as pictures from the progress suggested – intentionally. Though I can not remember why *shurg*

I had wanted to sew a “Throw” layout from my All the Diagonals pattern, but with the baby-sized 5″ finished block and a small 1.5″ finished border. Whatever happened, instead of 6×7 it turned out as a 7×6. In that orientation – with the left straight side of the polygon block – the diamonds are on point. If you are holding it vertically – as my Mom did – they are horizontal. I think it works either way, and the layout surprisingly also. Phew!

As usual, for all the (progress) pictures and all the information, including details of the quilt cost & fabric calculations, see the post in the gallery.

Glad to have finished at least one quilt in the second half of 2025. Even if it was just a little progress on a small quilt. I will take the win. ;)

Yeah!
