Progress on Tambo Star

It’s been a wild ride since I put up my new design wall.

After moving in September 2025, I had to wait patiently until the new build of the design wall could start.

While I had a few people helping out with attaching lamps and other stuff, only one of them was willing to build the new design wall with me. And his family moved just a touch later. Of course, they needed to set up their new home as well.

Now, in Mach, we finally found a date to make my new design wall happen. And it was such a sewjo booster!

It might also have helped that I just enjoyed the first week of a two-week staycation. ;)

I directly started putting up “blocks” on the wall. Originally, my goal was to put up only completed “blocks”. But figuring out the placement without blocking space for the “floppy nets” proved difficult.

You might remember that most of the quilt was just single units – and even a few, final single pieces – shortly before the move. I connected as many as possible to those “floppy nets” that you can see in the left picture, before boxing up the project.

And then the wild ride started ;)

I found audiobooks on Spotify. I know, I know, this invention has been around a bit longer… it helped soooooo much with staying focused while connecting the quilt top. My most dreaded task. And voila… final seam sewn only FOUR days later.

Since then, I have also contemplated all stashed widebacks – and found them “lacking”. So I made a big mess in my hallway to plan a pieced backing. And tada… almost done too!

This is soooooo exhilarating!

Not sure if this audiobook thing will become a long-term friendship or fade out fast like all new hypes… but it is THE BEST at this moment in time :)

PS: I will do my quarterly review and write up my progress on the yearly goals next. The link-up for the #2026QuiltingCheckIn is just live! I hope to see you there with your own goal reflection. xo
