Best of 2023

Once again Cheryl @meadowmistdesigns and Yvonne @quiltingyetgirl are hosting their end-of-year reviews. I am dividing my Best of 2023 and the #2024QuiltingPlanningParty – same as last year.

Best Nine

On the left we have an automated Best Nine collage. You apparently liked the Charade quilt a lot ;) And as is already tradition, I created My Own Nine as well – shown on the right.

From those I picked my personal Top Five of 2023. Nothing specific like likes or finished status but just the five of those projects shown above that felt like they represented my 2023. They are in no specific order – I just used the arrangement from the graphic which was the most pleasing to look at ;)

Charade is clearly number one. I enjoyed working on it and it is also highly represented in the official Top Nine graphic. But I had to hurry along and just now got the finished pictures taken to write the blog post so that is truely well represented on here ;)

Top 2

This is one of my favorite photos of the All the Diagonals sew along I hosted when I released a German translation of this pattern. By now the blocks are a top, though still not photographed.

But I have a quilting idea and now “only” need to decide whether I want to hang my quilt art in my sewing room on a wooden frame as in my living room or have it bound and with a hanging sleeve.

Tilted Tiles was started during a QuiltCon class. The pattern is fun, the top connected though also not photographed – this might be a theme this year. *insert eyeroll*

I also have a quilting game plan here. Just need to find some time and energy to baste and quilt it ;)

Top 5

Interaction is another QuiltCon highlight. Created by our group for the Community Outreach section. The phenomenal quilting was one again done by Christa @mrs_schnuff. The design is a version of my Spikes & Diamonds pattern. I always meant to write a blog post but I think that ship has sailed. Maybe I will get to adding it to the gallery one day…

If you want to see all my finishes also hop over to the gallery.

It is interesting to see that those most present in my mind and on the collages are the quilts that relate to events that happened in our amazing quilting community.

Want to know more about my goals for 2024? Sorry, the #2024QuiltingPlanningParty post will need a tad longer. But this link-up is closing faster. So please do check in for that a bit later ;)

  1. You do such beautiful work and you cannot rush art. It will be ready eventually and it will be worth the wait. Charade is gorgeous and I had the pleasure os seeing Interaction in person. It is really very impressive. Wishing you continued creativity and plenty of sewing time in the new year!
