Thank you for understanding my short break. I needed to take care of some health issues.

Today, we will quilt our pillow front and start on the backing.
And of course, I have another gift for you on this fourth Advent Sun :)

especially if you want to do something extra on there ;)
I was thinking scraps, or another Christmas-y design. Here is the star from last year’s pattern Merry Mix. Just in case you do not have a design on hand. It is just an excerpt of the pattern, so you will have to ignore the color code and maybe adjust the size to your liking… But it is a star you could use ;)

Quilt Pillow Front
Make a quilt sandwich for your pillow front as you would with any quilt, and quilt as desired. Afterwards, trim to 18.5″ (24.5″ if sewing the twinkling version!)

I planned on including pillow instructions, but time ran away. Thankfully, there are so many good ones out there, so I pulled a few in case you do not have any experience. Though I do guess most of you already have the pillow game down and could do it blindfolded ;)

Simple Envelope Back
I found this tutorial for an envelope back that I like because it is adjustable for all your (future) pillow sizes ;)

Your math would be:
18″/2 > +3″ = 12″
So you would cut (2) 12″ by 18.5″ rectangles for the 18″ pillow.

The twinkling version would be:
24″/2 > +3″ = 15″
So you would cut (2) 15″ by 24.5″ rectangles for the 24″ pillow.

Zipper Closure
And this is the tutorial I have so far used on my own pillow projects.

I am not so sure about the envelope back – as I have never used one – but with the zipper closure, you can really adjust it to be lower on the bottom. That is nice if you want an additional design on your back.

But you will have to do your own math, depending on how centered or low you want your zipper to be. Sorry :)

Hidden Zipper
I have not done one of these either. But I stumbled upon the instructions when researching, so I thought why not pop them in here as well. Now you have three options ;)

And because I might have to miss another day or two…

The timeline for the next few days is finish backing on Monday and finish the pillow on Tuesday, either by connecting or binding :)
