Catching up on my fabric tracking 2026 – with an akward three quarter report ;)

The first fabric addition is actually from an order on Dec 28. Of course, it was sent and received in 2026. Besides some notions, I ordered the Kona Cotton Wander and Nocturne (COTY – Color of the Year) fabrics (top two in the top pile). It was a fairly small addition to grab the colors before they might become unavailable.
The small usage for the Oleander Pouch does not really make any dent here ;)

In April, I ordered from the States. So a bigger addition.
Besides the Alison Glass fabrics for my stash (bottom pile), I ordered for current projects. The Anna Maria Horner fabric is planned for a simple new shopping/pool bag. The two yellows are binding options for my Tambo Star quilt, and the last two are wideback backings for Cabin Flower and Scrappy Gems.
As I have not yet finished any quilts – even though I did make a lot of progress – this constitutes a huge rise.

But I am happy with my purchase choices. Everything was thought through. No spontaneous buys. And while the AG design is bigger than expected – poor research on my part – I like it and hope to find a way to incorporate it. If not in a quilt, then someday in a bag…

In July I saw the fun Ruby Star Society Halloween prints on Instagram and could not resist. So I rounded out the order for a full package with other Halloween “possibles”. Still with the idea to recreate my Halloween quilt in the same or slighly modified colorway. I am still miffed that I did not like that batting.
Thankfully – for this report and the WIP list – I had two finishes in September: Tambo Star & Ombre Gems. Still need to post about the second one, but I promise it is well and truely done ;)

Congratulations on the two finishes, it does look like you can go shopping again if you like. :) The fabrics you have brought in are all delightful and sure to make something beautiful.
I sure understand wanting to use-up fabric! Thanks to the good example set by Debbie of @aquilterstable, I began fabric-tracking two years ago… 2026 is my third year of doing so. I’ve found I’m very judicious about which fabrics I buy, and more-importantly, am much better about using-up stash to make scrappy tops. I find I piece all of my quilt backs now, and that’s helped use-up too. It’s very satisfying to see the outgoing column increasing more steadily than the incoming column I hope you find enjoyment in discovering this too.
Definite YAYs for the two finishes! Fabric purchases obviously need to happen to keep us sewing, and sometimes you just need to do it when the mood strikes.
